Cavedog

Coming out of nowhere in '97 to unleash the truly awesome Total Annihilation on us all, Cavedog are a success story worthy of praise. TA, their first game, has become one of the most popular Real Time Strategy games ever made, spawned a fiercely loyal online following, and produced two acclaimed expansion packs. As if this in itself were not a huge achievement on it's own, Cavedog have also pioneered an exciting new trend among developers - the distribution of free expansion material over the internet. Providing new units each week for months after the release of TA, along with dozens of map and tilesets for the map editor, Cavedog have made TA over time into an even deep and far more comprehensive game than it originally was - at no cost to the consumer. Riding on the back of TA's phenomenal success, Cavedog currently has several new projects in development, all of which have already attracted huge interest from the market and the community.

Storyline

Starcraft

sm_battle.jpg (6077 bytes)Blizzard had built-up strong expectations regarding its long awaited Warcraft-like game set in space. Would it be Warcraft in space? Or, would it take the elements that made Warcraft great and build a faster, stronger, bigger game? Fortunately, the latter approach was taken and Starcraft became almost an overnight sensation. There is plenty to like about this game, but one of the most compelling aspects, in single player mode, is the storyline. Each of the three races has not only different units, but also different goals and a different story. Following each of these storylines to their final conclusion adds to the addictive flavor of the game and gives the player a reason to care about the race he/she is playing.
