Development Diary

Thursday, June 1st

Well I stayed at work last night to get a build of SFC2 ready for taping today. I was not alone however as the whole programming team was around till 1am as well. They where working on the Metaverse and things are beginning to take shape. We had some pizza and watched Heratio Hormblower on tape.

I spent four hours today at Interplay recording footage that will become an internet and promotional trailer. I’m sure you’ll be seeing it towards the end of the month. I got 3 hours of footage and have to narrow it down to 1 minute somehow. (I wonder how much the tapes would fetch on the internet.) Anyway got some great footage that should make any SFC’er tingle with anticipation.

It’s 6:20pm now and I’m taking 15 minutes to get you guys all up to date. I might grab something to eat since I somehow forgot to do that today. I will then proceed to go through all the footage I took and mark down the time codes of possible footage to use. Looks like another long night.

I missed out on anything exciting that might have happened today so Ill have to ask tomorrow.

The diplomacy game is running well and we have another turn due tomorrow. I was checking the Taldren message board and noticed that people were actuall interested on the positions. We run the game on a board but we also mark all the turns on the computer. I could if there was interest post our moves when we make them. It would be like audience participation, you could pick a horse and bet on us, or you can analyze our game and tell us what idiots we are. Anyway let me know in the forums.

I promised to tell you about the “Golden Ping Pong” award. This is a trophy that is made of Lego’s that goes to the current Taldren ping pong champ. I currently own the trophy as I beat Dan today. =)

Tomorrow I will start talking to each member on the team in turn and give you a more in depth interview on what it takes to be a developer. I hope that maybe someone reading might better understand what they should do if they are thinking on pursuing this type of work as a profession.
