Development Diary
August 1st
First off I would like to apologize for the lack of updates
things are getting crazy. This is a good thing.
We just opened new forums on our website in preparation for our
beta test. Yes, this means we are getting closer! We will be running
the beta test in several phases. The first phase will be starting
shortly. This will be a closed beta. In a few weeks we will have a
form on our Taldren web page to get into the next portion of the
beta. Please don't email us until we ask. The first portion of the
beta will focus on our tutorials and multiplayer game. We will widen
the testing to the single player game and then finally to the Meta
game. The demo would then be produced before the final game shipped.
The whole Taldren team has been coming in the last couple
weekends and testing our game multiplayer. The multiplayer play
seems to be much improved after Marc Hertogh went through the code
and streamlined it. It was a lot of fun playing the game with the
new races and fleet control. Everyone had a blast.
I'm sure you have all seen the new Gorn Freighter and the new
listening post. Nate will be working on the Gorn Starbase soon and
Ill get some pictures of it as soon as it's ready. I think I will
show off more fighter screen shots this week
Brad finished our 2 page add that should be appearing a in month
or so in the print mags. I sure after seeing the ad people will have
no choice but to buy the game.
Marc is working on integrating the new fighter spec file. When it
is completed it should make it so fighters land and reload on
carriers. Neat stuff. It will be nice to see all the new models in
actual action in the game.
The Meta game is coming along too. We can now log on, move
around, and pick missions. There is a lot of chrome to add to the
meta but the basic building blocks are there.
I will be bringing you a lot of updates in August as our feature
set become more solid. I will then be able to reveal many of the
things I'm working on that up to this point must remain secret.
Till next time,
Josh
